Adrian Mutu Denied Visa For Being Drunk At The Indian Embassy

Adrian Mutu, the Romanian striker who used to play for Chelsea has denied the allegation that he turned up drunk for his visa at the Indian Embassy located in Bucharest, the capital of Romania.

In the month of September, Mutu signed a three month contract with the team Pune City FC playing in the Indian Super League. It is feared that he’ll not be able to play for his team in his team’s first match in the competition which is against Delhi Dynamos because he is having troubles getting his visa. He will play as a striker for Pune City FC.

Gazzetta dello Sport, an Italian Newspaper said that one could tell that Mutu was drunk just by looking at him when he visited the embassy. The embassy staff asked him to leave and said that he could come back when he was sober. Mutu denied that the event ever happened and posted in Twitter that the whole thing is a lie and said that he’s astonished at Gazzetta dello Sport, a reputed newspaper publishing a story without properly verifying it, along with an image of his visa. The Indian Embassy also said that no such incident took place. Indian first secretary to Romania, Political & Consular, Arun Kumar Sharma said that the reported story is a false one and further added that Mutu had some problems of very insignificant nature with his documents which was solved within a very short time.

Mutu was kicked out of Chelsea in the October of 2004 after tests conclusively proved that he used Cocaine. He was also initially banned for nine months after he failed a doping test when he was playing for Fiorentina but later on his ban was reduced three months. Adrian Mutu was banned from the Romanian National football team in the year 2011 along with one of his teammates after both of them were found to be drinking when they were supposed to be playing for the team which was competing against San Marino.
